Interesting bit of history. Wonder if old Sam ever paid the rental fee? We had a Great Runaway of our own here in my neck of Pennsylvania. Colonists ran from the British and their Iroquois allies during the Revolutionary War. Like the Scrape, it was a strategic withdrawal.
