It’s something I’d just as soon avoid, all that breaking news from Washington, but it’s the only thing on TV right now. Looks like we need a miracle to resolve the impasse I keep watching on the tube.
And I thought – they really need some Texas politics. After all, Texas is the home of political miracles.
Remember the time an entire South Texas graveyard got up and marched to the courthouse and voted for a future President? All using the same pen and writing in the same hand? Miraculous!
Or the year when the Amarillo Globe published a headline describing the Texas legislature: HALF THE LEGISLATURE ARE CROOKS! This headline caused so much consternation in Austin that a demand was made: Retract that statement!
Miraculously, a retraction was offered. The next day’s headline read: HALF THE LEGISLATURE ARE NOT CROOKS!
History does not record whether the legislature was mollified by that retraction.
Where is our Washington miracle? If I quit laughing I might start to weep.
No serious commentary, please; keep it light.

Couldn't resist to clear up a little inaccuracy in your comment on congressional retirement.

Dac, Thanks for making light of a situation that's causing everyone to grit their teeth, among other things. You brightened my day.

Yes - I miss Molly, too.

Dac- I can guarantee we will survive in spite of ourselves. If the government does crash and burn, the sun is still rising in the East the next day, and I'll pick an extra mess of beans from the garden. What time would you like to come over for supper?

Couple more sentences and you'd be in Molly territory. I mlss her.

Robert - wish they would act together. I remember from years ago - "What's the difference between Congress and the Boy Scouts? The Boy Scouts have adult leadership..."

It's not the time for the men and women of Congress to stand firm. It's the time for them to behave as members of Congress should. They were sent to Washington as statemen and women to practice the art of negotiation and compromise.

when men think alike - no one thinks very much....Walter Lippman quote. I vote for term limits for all legislators - 2 terms - ALL
elections to be funded by public funds. AND
after one term You cannot/do not collect
your current salary for the rest of your life as retirement. These persons hold the country in hostage. When will they realize that THEY are the problem we cannot getup and running again.

The one below it is also a basic truth the media is ignoring. There is a value in not watching TV.

Not serious, but vicious truth. Check http://curmudgeonsreport.blogspot.com It was retweeted to over 45,000 people, but no one has made a comment or taken me seriously.
I do want them to hold out until there is something on the table to prune Washington, not the taxpayer.
