We adopt radical methods for marketing our novels. Always looking for new ways to call attention to them.
Paddle Georgia is an annual event, a canoe trip down one of Georgia's many rivers. Hundreds participate in journeys of several days, with overnight camping and rest stops along the way.
So, I've rented one of the rest stop porta-potties to advertise my latest novel, Escape from the Alamo.
Here's the inside of the potty, with the book cover displayed on the inside of the door, and a copy of the novel hanging by a string. And a supply of my business cards. They say that fifty percent of advertising works. But nobody knows which fifty percent it is.
(Thanks, April...)

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY
I don't know, Eric. Maybe the copy of the book will come home - maybe it has become a canoe paddle.

What happens to the copy after the porta potty is finished? Assuming it's still intact.

Thanks - glad you all approve. Now - what should the next one be?

At the very least, you have their undivided attention for several minutes. Much better than reading the graffiti. Excellent idea!

Well, now that should get some good attention!

You are wonderful, creative and an inspiration for the rest of us. I just love
it. I thought about going on this trip......
I should have. Give me a kayak ,BUT, I am
75 and little voices told me this would NOT be smart. I shall reconsider this next year.
You're a GREAT role model.

Who knew you could rent ad space in a porta-potty? But don't be surprised if the copy of the book gets ripped off. Once someone starts reading it, they won't want to leave the book there.

Well, I can't say you're not creative! I hope you sell, sell, sell. Me? Still promoting, too. Celia

You've taken promotion to new heights. Or, is it lows? Great idea. You certainly know how to get someone's undivided attention!

Many years ago Dac told me you could't insult a person with no pride. This example proves it. Cheers, bobc
